ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: THE USE OF KUKI CHATBOT APPLICATION IN IMPROVING ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENT AT SMP 3 ALLA ENREKANG.

The use of digital media is one of the topics recommended in the Platform Merdeka Mengajar (PMM), a teacher independent learning platform and a benchmark in the implementation
of the Kurikulum Merdeka. In this study, the researcher used an artificial intelligence called a chatbot Kuki application. Chatbots are automated conversational agents that can interact with users in natural human language and provide support anytime, anywhere. Kuki is an embodied Artificial Inteligence bot designed to befriend humans in the Kuki, formerly known as Mitsuku.
The researchers first carried out pre-observation to show students‟ English achievement.The result is students' English achievement is still low category. Mostly students stated that media in learning is the factor of the low achievement. The objectives of this study is to find out whether the use of Kuki Chatbot can improve student English achievement, The students‟ engagement, student‟s perception of the usage of chatbot Kuki, and how learning steps are taken by using
Kuki Chatbot application.
Qualitative research is conducted in the study. It conducted for two classes namely Experimental and Control classes. Both of the classes are given pre - test and Post test for seeing
the students‟ achievement. The student‟s engagement observed based on three dimensions ;
cognitive, behavior, and emotional engagement. Student‟s perception analyzed by likert scale . A validation test is performed to see the learning steps in using Kuki chatbot Aplication. The result of the study is there is an improvement of students English achievement in Experimental classes after treatment, the Students' engagement is active category, and perception of the students are positive. In the study, there is positive impact of using Kuki Chatbot application in learning English for students in IX class of SMP 3 Alla. The study give iin class IX of SMP 3 Alla Enrekang.
