Abstract
This study aims to examine the impact of using a Learning Management System (LMS) on
students’ mathematical reasoning abilities. The research employed a quantitative method with
a quasi-experimental design. The participants consisted of a single class of seven fourth
semester students from the Mathematics Education Study Program at Universitas
Muhammadiyah Parepare during the 2023/2024 academic year. Measurements of
mathematical reasoning ability were conducted before and after Learning Management System
(LMS)-based instruction. The research data were analyzed using descriptive statistical
methods and a paired sample t-test. The results revealed a significant improvement in students'
reasoning abilities, as indicated by an increase in the average score from 47.14 on the pre-test
to 78.71 on the post-test. The t-test yielded a significance value of p < 0.05 with an effect size
of 3.36, indicating a large impact. These findings highlight the important role of Learning
Management System (LMS) in enhancing students’ mathematical reasoning abilities,
particularly those enrolled in the Mathematics Education Study Program at Universitas
Muhammadiyah Parepare. However, the study is limited by its small sample size and the
absence of a control group, suggesting the need for further research with a more robust design
and a larger number of participants. This study contributes novelty by focusing on the
interaction between Learning Management System (LMS) features and higher-order
mathematical thinking skills, an area that has received relatively little attention in previous
literature.
