Abstract
Indonesia is an archipelagic country, which we often find buildings according to the needs of the community. In conditions like this, it does not rule out the possibility of using sea sand as a constituent material for concrete, seeing the potential for such abundant sources of sea sand (fine aggregate). The purpose of this study is to analyze the compressive strength and tensile strength of sea sand
(fine aggregate) concrete against river sand to be used as an alternative use of concrete constituent materials in coastal areas and isolated islands. The results of the compressive strength test of concrete by curing seawater soak for 28 days with a water cement ratio (fas) of 0.4 showed the average compressive strength results in river sand concrete of 35.00 Mpa and the average compressive strength results in sea sand (fine aggregate) concrete of 34.84 MPa. This result meets the standard of 30 ± 5 (MPa). While the difference in compressive strength test results on sea sand against river sand shows a difference that is not too significant. Tensile strength testing refers to SNI 03-2491-2002, the quality of concrete used is good and in accordance with the planning carried out at the age of 7 and 28 days using cylinders measuring 10 cm x 20 cm and the average tensile strength value at the 7-day immersion age of 1.8 MPa and the average tensile strength value at the 28-
day soaking age of 2.02 Mpa. Tensile strength increases with age. This increase in concrete tensile strength increases the concrete's ability to withstand greater loads.
