Abstract

Ferns grown on nickel post-mining area have a root system which contains type of
native arbuscular mycorrhiza in various numbers. To obtain quantitative and
qualitative information, study on trapping of native arbuscular mycorrhiza in nickel
post-mining rehabilitation ecosystem, particularly in Gleichenia linearis plants is
required. This research was started by collecting rhizosphere sample of Gleichenia
linearis plants grown on nickel post-mining rehabilitation area. Trapping of spores was
done using Zea mays L. through method of layered media. Trapping of arbuscular
mycorrhiza used method of wet filter and centrifugation technique. Identification of
type and number of arbuscular mycorrhiza spores was performed using the method of
manual for the identification of mycorrhizal fungi. The results showed that the types of
spores obtained were Glomus sp. (3.41%), Gigaspora sp. (30.76%), and Acaulospora sp.
(65.83%).
