Abstract

Sarmi (219160017) Application of biohumus from cocoa skin on cayenne pepper plants (Capsicum Frutescens L.) on soil saturated with chemicals ” Guided by Iradhatullah Rahim and Suherman.Cayenne pepper is a horticultural commodity that has an important role in meeting food needs and as an economic commodity in Indonesia. The success of chili production is greatly influenced by several factors, especially fertility and soil management. Intensive soil management that is not in accordance with growing requirements can cause a decrease in soil quality, which has a direct impact on the growth and production of chilies. One effective way to improve soil quality is by adding organic material through the application of fertilizer and growth regulators. Biohumate, which is a humic acid compound, is a potential alternative for increasing soil fertility. This study aims to evaluate the effect of administering various doses of biohumat on the growth and development of cayenne pepper. The research was carried out at the GreenHouse, Faculty of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Muhammadiyah University, Parepare during the period July - December 2023. This research used a Randomized Block Design method with five types of biohumat doses tested, namely B0 (control), B1 (3 ml/L water), B2 (5 ml/L water), B3 (7 ml/L water), and B4 (9 ml/L water). Parameters observed included plant height, number of leaves, leaf width, leaf length, leaf greenness, plant wet weight, and plant dry weight. The results of the analysis of variance showed that there were no significant differences in the growth and development parameters of cayenne pepper plants between the various biohumat doses given. In conclusion, the application of biohumats at different concentrations did not have a significant effect on the growth and development of cayenne pepper plants. Further research is needed to understand the effects of biohumat application in more depth or
perhaps explore alternative approaches to increasing plant fertilization efficiency
