Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a disease or chronic metabolic disorder with multiple etiologies which is characterized by high blood sugar levels. Where blood sugar levels reach >126 mg/dL. Compliance with the Diabetes Mellitus diet is one of the alternatives used to control blood sugar levels in Diabetes Mellitus sufferers. The aim of this research is to determine the description of diabetes mellitus diet
compliance and the relationship between diet compliance and blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus sufferers at the Parepare City Health Center. This research uses quantitative methods with a cross sectional approach. The sample in this
study was Diabetes Mellitus sufferers using the accidental sampling method as many as 96 people. The data collected was processed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 25 program. The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate to determine the influence between the independent variables and the dependent variable using the chi square test. The research results showed that the average value of respondents' calorie consumption was
1,785 kcal per day, carbohydrate intake 85.41 grams, pure sugar 11.57 grams, saturated fat 12.45 grams, protein 14.45 grams and total fat 23.47 grams. . Blood sugar levels are at risk of abnormality, namely 70.8% in the non-compliant
category and at normal risk, namely 58.8% in the normal category. There is a relationship between diet compliance and blood sugar levels in Diabetes Mellitus sufferers. It is recommended to carry out a regular diet pattern on a chedule according to the recommended needs of each individual, Namely three main meals and three snacks, paying attention to the amount and type of food and it is hoped that health workers in carrying out prolanis will add educational activities by involving the family in the diet program to increase emotional support and
motivation.
